How Moms Can Actually Fit in Workouts During Busy Seasons of Motherhood
There’s something humbling about trying to squeeze in a workout while your baby watches you like you’ve personally betrayed them 😂
One minute you’re feeling strong and motivated… the next you’re doing lunges while holding a snack cup, pausing a workout to find a missing sock, or getting climbed like a human jungle gym mid-plank.
Motherhood turns fitness into a whole different sport.
And honestly? That’s okay.
Because the goal isn’t perfection. The goal is consistency in the middle of real life.
The “All or Nothing” Trap Moms Fall Into
A lot of moms think:
“If I can’t do a full hour workout, there’s no point.”
But those tiny pockets of movement throughout the day? They add up more than you think.
Five minutes while the baby naps.
Ten minutes during screen time.
A quick strength circuit between diaper changes.
A stroller walk after dinner.
That still counts.
Actually, that matters more than waiting for the “perfect” routine that never comes.
Your Kids Seeing You Move Is Powerful
Sometimes I think:
“He’s eventually going to get used to me working out… right?” 🤪
But honestly, there’s something really special about our kids seeing us prioritize strength, movement, and taking care of ourselves.
Not because we’re chasing perfection.
Not because we’re trying to “bounce back.”
But because we deserve to feel strong too.
Your kids are growing up watching what self-care looks like.
And sometimes that self-care looks like squats in pajamas with dry shampoo and a toddler hanging off your leg 😂
Movement Doesn’t Need to Be Complicated
You do not need:
- A perfect schedule
- Fancy equipment
- A gym membership
- A quiet house (LOL)
- Two uninterrupted hours
You just need a starting point.
Some seasons are early morning workouts.
Some seasons are surviving on mini workouts and walks.
Some seasons are stretching on the living room floor while Bluey plays in the background.
All of it counts.
The Secret Is Building Momentum
Motivation comes and goes.
Momentum is what changes things.
That’s why quick, realistic workouts work so well for moms. They remove the pressure and make consistency possible.
Instead of:
“I need to completely restart my routine.”
Try:
“What movement can I fit into today?”
That shift changes everything.
Moms Are Earning Every Rep
Motherhood already requires endurance.
Add workouts into the mix and honestly… moms deserve Olympic medals 😅
So if you’re in a season where your workouts feel messy, interrupted, shorter than usual, or completely different than they used to look, you are not failing.
You’re adapting.
And that’s strength too 💪🏽
